Le Tour - 2011 - Australia
The Tour is an individual and a team event. But we also take great pride in the nationality of the winners.
This poster shows the nationality of every Tour winner from 1903 to 2011. We've done great disservice to France in this poster. Firstly, we've only changed the flag every time the nationality of the winner has changed (otherwise we'd never fit them all in). Secondly, we've also aligned the stripes of all the flags. That means countries who have sideways stripes get more space than those with vertical stripes. France has come out badly from both of those aesthetic decisions. But also Italy and Belgium. We apologise profusely - because you've all got amazing Tour histories.
But we built this poster to celebrate the recent victors and 2011 was all about Cadel Evans - our very first Australian winner.
